Over the last 5 years macadamia growers and grower associations have been investing heavily in order to:

- Increase volumes of macadamia nuts available
- Guarantee supply at a stable price
- Increase awareness and consumption of macadamias nuts amongst consumers
- Drive awareness and usage of macadamia nuts amongst the trade
- Develop consistent international standards in growing and processing
In 2005, benchmark consumer research was carried out in the UK on behalf of the Australian Macadamia Society. This showed that 72% of those surveyed had never tasted a macadamia nut. Determined to put this right, the Southern African Macadamia Growers’ Association (SAMAC) and the Australian Macadamia Society began combined consumer and trade targeted campaigns to grow macadamia market share and introduce the fantastic nut to the discerning UK consumer. And just like the Macadamia Revolution was underway……
