Macadamias for Foodservice
Macadamias are now being used by some of the UK’s and the world’s best chefs from restaurants and leading catering firms to add elegance, style, texture and flavour to a range of dishes in every section of the kitchen. That’s not all though, other sections of the foodservice sector are also coming round to the benefits macadamias can offer including innovative cafes, deli’s, pubs and bars.
Compass Chef of the Year
SAMAC were once again one of the sponsors for this year's Compass Chef of the Year 2011, which took place at The Restaurant Show in Earls Court.
Nick Vadis, Compass Group, UK Executive Chef
Nick worked with SAMAC in 2010 to help showcase macadamias qualities to chefs working in foodservice. You can see the recipes Nick created in the recipes section but here is what he thought of macadamias:
“Macadamias are an ingredient I love working with as they can really elevate a dish. They have a buttery goodness, beautiful crunch and are extremely versatile making them perfect for a wide range of savoury and sweet products and dishes.”
The Macadamia Foodservice Trial 2009
Highly acclaimed restaurant and contract catering company the Pot Kiln and the Pot Kiln Anywhere trialled Macadamia nuts during July/August 2009. Not only were the macadamia used macadamia bread rolls but The Pot Kiln’s various chefs used Macadamias to add a touch of luxury to a range of dishes.
